Starting is Easy….. Quitting is Not

Understand why Quitting Smoking is So Difficult

Have you been trying unsuccessfully to stop smoking? How many times have you relapsed? If you are struggling with the urge to smoke just one cigarette, you should know why quitting is so difficult. Ruth Stuettgen of Focus on Balance gives you a very good reason as to why you are hooked to your cancer sticks.

Many people believe that they can quit any day. This is a lie they have told themselves over and over and believe. But stopping smoking is never easy. Did you know why? It is because tobacco, similar to cocaine or heroin is a hard to break habit. Nicotine in tobacco is easily absorbed in the blood. Upon entering the bloodstream, nicotine stimulates the adrenal glands. This in turn stimulates the central nervous system. Nicotine also increases dopamine, a hormone that controls pleasure. However, this method of gaining pleasure is not natural. This causes a negative effect on the brain. As the habit becomes ingrained, a smoker will constantly look for cigarettes to satiate it. This is the reason why so many quitters have nicotine withdrawal symptoms when they attempt to quit.

Cigarettes are bad for your overall health. They cause cancer, high blood pressure, cardio vascular diseases and a variety of other diseases. The reason that cigarettes are bad for your health is because of the harmful chemicals that go into the production of a cigarette. These include hydrogen cyanide, formaldehyde and ammonia. Go ahead, Google these chemicals and see the harmful effects it has on the body. You will certainly wonder why you have decided to become your own murderer!

So, the next time you decide to light up and think “I can quit whenever I want”, think again. It is not that easy and every cigarette you burn and inhale, it becomes harder still. So, Quit Right Now!

Who Wins the Game of Rich Tobacco Giants vs. Poor Smokers?

Put the Tobacco Giants out of Business, Stop Smoking Today!

All tobacco companies profit from selling cigarettes. For example, did you know that the Phillip Morris International Inc, makers of the Marlboro brand of cigarettes makes a profit of approximately more than $200 million a year? They thrive because of the more than 26 million smokers that pay for their cancer sticks. Ruth Stuettgen of Focus on Balance talks about how these cigarette giants thrive while you lose money.

Prices of Well Known Brands of Cigarettes
Prices on cigarettes vary according to brand, taxes and competition. Below is a list of prices for some of the well known brands of cigarettes. The prices below are inclusive of GST.

Brand and Pack Size Per Pack Price per Unit
Marlboro Chill 20s $13.20 0.66
Camel 20s $14.95 0.6
Davidoff 20s $15.80 0.63
Galal Super Slims $12.40 0.62
Ashford 20s $10.65 0.53
Peter Jackson 20s $16.20 0.65

If you were to take the price of a pack of Peter Jackson 20s, and if you smoke two packs a day, it would cost you $32.40. If you smoked two packs a day, for a month, that would cost you $972. Multiply that by 12 and you get $11,664 a year on cigarettes alone. This money could be put away in a bank account and earned interest. Instead, you just shortened your life and made the big tobacco giants a healthy profit.

Rich tobacco giants do not care about your welfare. All they care about are the profits. Consider putting them out of business. Stop smoking now.

Smoking cigarettes is bad for you and for those around you. Consider hypnotherapy programs as Quit Cigarettes in 60 Minutes™ if you find it difficult to quit. It is guaranteed to ensure that you stop smoking, thereby, stopping your contribution towards the profits of rich tobacco giants. Remember, when everyone makes an effort, the collective output can topple a giant. It’s the same story as Gulliver and the Lilliputs. Show solidarity and join the quest of lung cancer free society by quitting on your nicotine stick today.

A Letter from a Quitter

A Successful Quitter Writes to Ruth

We all know the trials of quitting smoking. Quitting smoking is not easy. However, it can be done, and it can be done successfully. Provided below is a letter sent to me, by one of the smokers I had helped quit smoking with “Quit Cigarettes in 60 Minutes™. This letter is revealing and inspiring and she speaks of her success with hypnotherapy in quitting smoking.

“Dear Ruth,

I never thought I would be able to stop smoking when I entered your hypnotherapy session. I never thought hypnotherapy will be effective in helping me quit this disgusting habit. But it did! I have not smoked a cigarette for six years since that day I walked out of your clinic. Believe me, it was not easy for me to make that appointment. Having tried so many methods of quitting, I was at the end of the road when I came across one of your blog posts. In one fateful move, I noted down the number and made an appointment which fell 2 days away from the day I called. There were times that I wondered if the money I would spend on a session was worth it. But, when I visited Focus on Balance clinic I immediately felt a sense of wellbeing that was hard to explain. I was not sure what to expect with your hypnotherapy session and can still remember the sense of anxiousness I felt.

The truth was, that when I walked out of the door after 1 hour of your Quit Cigarettes in 60 Minutes™ program, I was just waiting to see when the urge to smoke would strike again. There was no way that I could wait more than 4-5 hours without a smoke at that time. But to my astonishment and complete jubilation, I had no craving for a cigarette even after 10 hours from the hypnosis therapy. Few days had to pass until it completely dawned on me that this is for real! I was finally free from that dreaded smoking habit! All thanks to you Ruth.

Did you know that just two weeks after stopping smoking I was able to go for a jog without feeling as if I were about to die on the spot? That was how unfit smoking cigarettes had made me. Another reason I have to thank you especially for is that I found myself healthier, happier and more alive to the smells, tastes and feelings around me. My husband for one was extremely happy to have found back his old flame, full of vigour and enthusiasm and a lot lighter in weight, to rekindle love that had died down with nicotine induced low libido.

I would also like to thank you for helping me quit, for the sole reason that two years after stopping smoking I conceived and carried a baby to term. I have had two miscarriages previously. I was told this could be because I smoked…. Now I am the proud parent of a four year old boy with another on the way.

Finally to all those who assume that hypnotherapy is not effective, believe me, it has worked like a charm on me. It is a long time since I looked at a person who is smoking and crave to light my own smoke. What’s more, I have a comforting feeling that your life time guarantee is in fact as good as gold.

Thank you for helping me quit!

Yours Truly

Annabell Witney

How to have more Cash at your Disposal during the Holiday Season

Give up Smoking and Save for the Holidays

The holiday season is almost upon us. It is mind boggling how fast the year has gone. The time for buying presents and cooking the turkey is around the corner. If you are wondering how to have more cash at your disposal this holiday season, look no further than the lit cigarette between your lips. Ruth Stuettgen of Focus on Balance tells you how you can save a little cash if you gave up smoking.

How much is a Pack of Cigarettes?
A pack of cigarettes costs approximately $10 in New York City. If you are living in the Big Apple, and a smoker, who goes through one pack a day, your total cigarette cost for the month is $300. If you stopped smoking at the beginning of the year, this money could have been put in a bank. If you quit in January, your total savings will be $3600. I think this money could be spent to buy all your loved ones exciting gifts or take them on a special holiday this winter season.

Saving for a Rainy Day
If you quit today and didn’t want to spend so much on gifts or a holiday, you could always save it for your child’s college fund. Furthermore, this money can also be put aside for a rainy day. Saving a $300 a month, ensures that you will be able to have a nice nest egg in a few years.

So, why not consider quitting today? Maybe you will not have saved enough by the time December comes, but you will definitely have saved a lump sum by summer. Consider quit smoking techniques such as hypnotherapy from and you can quit smoking in a time as short as 1 hour with a lasting impact for a life time.

Every Cigarette you Burn, you Kill….. Millions of your Brain Cells

Understand how Smoking Cigarettes Affects your Brain

There are many things that we do that are harmful to the brain. These include sniffing paint, taking cocaine, injecting heroine, eating junk food, consuming excessive alcohol etc. All these things help kill millions of your brain cells. Another reason that is detrimental to brain health is smoking cigarettes. Ruth Stuettgen of Focus on Balance helps you to understand how smoking affects your brain.

Too much Nicotine in the Brain
No cigarette is made without this addictive drug. Nicotine stimulates the brain’s neurotransmitters. Neurotransmitters influence mood and behaviour. Too much nicotine can wreak havoc in the brain.

NNK and Brain Cell Death
NNK or Nicotine-derived Nitrosamine Ketone is commonly found in tobacco. NNK stimulates certain cells called microglia cells that damage and kill healthy brain tissue. This is harmful to smokers, as well as second hand smokers.

High Blood Pressure
As you know, there are several health risks associated with smoking cigarettes. One of these is hypertension. Hypertension increases the risk of stroke. A stroke causes damage to the tiny brain vessels. This can lead to severe neurological damage.

Lack of Oxygen to the Brain
Smoking cigarettes lowers blood oxygen levels. This results in low level of oxygen to the brain. Reduction in blood oxygen levels to the brain causes damage and death to the brain cells. This is one of the long term effects of smoking cigarettes.

With so much information about brain cell death, isn’t it time you considered quitting smoking? Quit now and save your brain. Hypnotherapy is an effective way to quit smoking with no pain and no relapse. Advanced Hypnotherapy combined with NLP (Neurolinguistic Programming) is an even more effective way to quit smoking with no pain and no relapse.

Analyse your Toxic Fumes

Toxic Fumes in a Cigarette Damage your Body in Minutes!

Whoever said that no harm will come of smoking one cigarette was gravely mistaken. Researchers at the University of Minnesota have found that DNA damage can occur within minutes of smoking a cigarette. There are so many toxic chemicals in a cigarette that you would have to be totally ignorant to think that smoking does not cause any immediate damage. Ruth Stuettgen of Focus on Balance takes a closer look into the toxic fumes in a cigarette.

Tobacco produces smoke that contains more than 4000 toxic chemicals. There are more than 50 carcinogen substances in a cigarette. Out of these 11 are, cancer causing substances. Apart from cancer causing substances there are other harmful substances that cause a variety of diseases. These include cardio vascular diseases, asthma etc.

Did you know that your cigarette consists mainly of nicotine, tar and carbon monoxide? Nicotine is as bad as heroine. It alters your brain chemicals and causes behavioural changes. Tar is similar to what you pave roads with and damages the lungs. Carbon monoxide is the emission from automobiles. They replace the oxygen in your body, disabling the lungs. These toxins are the most commonly heard of substances in a cigarette. However, there are much more, including arsenic, formaldehyde, ammonia, acetone, hydrogen cyanide, vinyl chloride etc. If you Google these substances, you will find that none of them is good for your health.

So why are you inhaling them into your body? Isn’t it time you decided to quit? There are so many ways to quit. Hypnotherapy is one of the most comfortable methods which you can choose. Remember, it is never too late to heal your body of the harmful toxins inhaled through a cigarette.

Make a Gift of Promise to Someone you Love – Promise to Quit and Keep the Promise

If you Love your Spouse Consider Quitting Now

Most spouses do not like it when their respective spouse smokes cigarettes. This could be because they know the harmful effects of smoking, as well as, the harm it does to others. They may bother you to stop smoking incessantly. This can be annoying and frustrating to you as you may have to promise not to smoke. However, have you figured out that they do this because they love you? Shouldn’t you respect their wishes and abide by their request? Ruth Stuettgen of Focus on Balance talks here about how quitting can be made into a gift of promise.

It may not be easy to quit smoking. You will crave a cigarette 24 hours a day. But this is only temporary. Once the initial withdrawal symptoms dissipate, you can act on your promise. However, you will experience the urge to smoke from time to time. Close your eyes and think of your loved one and then go for a long walk. The urge to light up would have vanished by the time you come back. However, make sure you do not walk past any cigarette vendors!

There are many ways to quit smoking. You can join a support group that will provide you the emotional support you need to help stay on track. Consider a counselling program that will also help you in the process of quitting. Hypnotherapy is another option that will deliver fast and lasting results. Hypnotherapy is very effective and withdrawal symptoms associated with smoking cessation will be considerably less, even non-existent.

The value of a gift by way of a promise you make and keep to quit smoking for good can be an invaluable gift that your loved ones will treasure for life. With such a gift, both the giver and the recipient are to gain happiness in life. So why hesitate?

Have you helped Someone to Quit the Dreadful Nicotine Stick?

Easy Methods to Provide Support to Someone who Wishes to Quit

Avid smokers find it very difficult to stop smoking. This is due to the habitual involvement a person develops with nicotine. This is why those who decide to quit smoking need support, both physically, as well as, mentally. A friend, a loved one or a support group can play a crucial role in rallying round the person who is trying to give up a nicotine habit. Ruth Stuettgen of Focus on Balance provides you vital tips on what you can / should not do when helping someone to quit.
• Helping someone to quit has to be done diplomatically and subtly. For maximum effectiveness, the decision to quit should be made by the smoker without undue pressure by others. Therefore, you should not force or advise that person to quit. Simply offer encouragement when the person suggests quitting. Do so in a mild and friendly manner.
• Give the smoker the choice. You should always show the smoker that he is in charge.
• Do not be offended by the smoker’s bad moods and grumpiness. You, as the friend, will be on the receiving end of a bigger share of abuse and criticism. Remember that it is not easy to copy with nicotine withdrawal symptoms. So, take it with a grain of salt.
• Congratulate the smoker at every milestone.
• Encourage the quitter to talk his or her feelings out with you. This will take a great load off his chest.
• Always make yourself available to the person who wishes to quit smoking. They are going through so many changes in their lives. This is the time he or she should feel the support and encouragement all around him.
• If you were a smoker and have been smoke-free for a number of years, tell your friend about it. Do not tell them how easy it was for you. Every person has a different cigarette quitting experience. The withdrawal symptoms will vary as per how badly the habit has taken over the system.

Before you help someone to quit smoking, you should know how to help a smoker quit the habit. Without this knowledge, you will not be doing much good to your friend, even though your intentions will have his or her best at heart.

Committing the Crime of Inducing Second Hand Smoke?

Allowing others to Breathe Second Hand Smoke is a Crime

You choose to ruin your life by smoking cigarettes. This is your wish. But what about the others who have to breathe in what you breathe out? Have you considered them and the adverse effects it will bring to their health? Ruth Stuettgen of Focus on Balance gives a few pointers on how second hand smoking harms you and those around you.

Second hand smoke is a cause for various health problems. The primary cause of cancer and cardio vascular diseases is cigarette smoke. There are various pathogens and carcinogens in a cigarette. This is doubled in second hand smoke. As a non smoker, you inhale mainstream smoke, as well as, side stream smoke. Breathing in second hand smoke will irritate the lungs and reduce the oxygen levels in the blood. This happens when you inhale second hand smoke even for a short time. Long term exposure to second hand smoke puts them at risk of getting the same diseases as a person who smokes.

Exposure to second hand smoke when pregnant may cause low birth weight. In addition, second hand smoke may increase the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). If you are a smoker with a family, your children are more at risk of developing infections, as well as, asthma.

Inducing second hand smoke is a crime. Although there is no law that restricts you from smoking at home, there are “no smoking” rules in public places. If you are able to refrain from smoking in these areas, why not do so at home? After all, more closer and dear ones are in your home and do you need a law to protect them from your smoking?
